Tasdawit Tamazight / Amazigh University
9:21 PM on Apr. 4, 2008
How long are we going to wait before we have our own Amazigh university?

The direction in which the Amazigh people is heading now leads to one destination: TOTAL EXTINCTION OF AMAZIGH LANGUAGE.

The Amazigh intellectuals self are using other languages than Amazigh in their daily professional and cultural activities.

If we continue this way we will ensure the burial of our own language with our own hands and minds.

Let's start to think about gathering money and resources in order to build our first Amazigh university dedicated to teaching the Amazigh language in its Tifinagh letters to the masses. This is the only way we can insure the survival of our mother tongue with.

AFUS DG UFUS A NBNA TASDAWIT TAMAZIGHT NNGH!

Azul d amqqran a mass Agraw,

The Amazigh activists did and are still doing a great job in raising awareness of Amazigh language, culture and cause. There is no more awareness to be raised among Moroccans and Algerians without changing the traditional means (elite associations and colloquiums).

I say: it is time for absolutely immediate concrete action!
People in Morocco and Algeria are being distracted by foreign media and languages. The best way to raise awareness of Tamazight among them is to realize concrete projects like an Amazigh University (Tasdawit Tamazight), Amazigh films, Amazigh books and magazines, Amazigh documentaries...etc
I believe in acting on the ground to promote the language.
I have, like many other Imazighen, great projects in mind like an Amazigh University, making Amazigh feature films...etc. This could be realize by gathering and joining efforts and resources.
If we stick with theories and discussions only, we won't be, over 25 years, farther than we are right now!

Azul Uma Amazigho,

I like the point you have raised here. It's a very crucial issue indeed. Tamazight has been preserved for many centuries by our ancestors, without having universities or books. I don't think we can still preserve it the same way. the world has changed now; any language that is not written, and the culture of which is not recorded, would very easily die. We hope it is not going to be for our language. I suggest that we first make our people aware of the danger it will cause, then when we realise a total awareness, we can look for further important and practical projects.

Thank you again uma, and thank you for joining this community; all together I am sure we can do something.
